About the Role

Pombo Labs is a US-based startup creating human-centered neuro-AI for early autism & epilepsy detection. We need a versatile engineer who can wrap our computer-vision model in a scalable API and craft a polished React/Next.js dashboard that clinicians can test. You’ll own everything from containerizing the model to deploying the front end on a cloud instance, turning research code into a usable proof of concept.

Responsibilities

  • Containerize the PyTorch/TensorFlow model with Docker and set up a lightweight inference API (FastAPI or Node/Express)
  • Build a secure React/Next.js dashboard that uploads video, calls the API, and visualizes risk scores + SHAP heatmaps
  • Implement basic auth (JWT or NextAuth) and role-based access.
  • Automate CI/CD with GitHub Actions and deploy to AWS or GCP
  • Monitor performance/logs, optimize latency, and handle edge-case errors.
  • Collaborate with the ML lead and UX researcher to iterate quickly on user feedback.
  • Document the stack so future contributors can spin it up in minutes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred
  • Proficiency with TypeScript, React/Next.js, and Node/Express or FastAPI.
  • Docker fundamentals and basic cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) deployment experience.
  • Familiarity with REST/GraphQL APIs and JWT-based authentication.
  • Comfortable working with Python ML inference scripts.
  • Version control (Git) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
  • Nice-to-have: WebSocket streaming, on-device model optimization, or HIPAA-aware security best practices

Benefits

  • Flexible 4–6 h/week schedule, fully remote
  • Early-team status with pathway to stipend and equity
  • Direct impact on AI that could shorten diagnostic timelines for families
